Late Winter is a music video created by Aalto collective.

“Through the medium of contemporary music and experimental film, artists Ella Morton (photography/ film), Anna Höstman (composition) and Cheryl Duvall (pianist) offer a poignant reflection on what we risk losing due to the climate crisis. Morton’s visuals capture the stark majesty of the natural world through the use of analogue processes —these ‘processes will sometimes embolden the scenery and emphasize its beauty, but in other moments, the effects will make the image appear as if it’s dissolving or degrading.” (Source: ellamorton.com)

Anna’s piano solo ‘Late Winter’ is a ruminative meditation on wandering through a snow-filled landscape in deep winter. Cheryl’s haunting performance of the work was recorded at the Glenn Gould studios in Toronto for her debut CD Harbour.

Aalto will be in residence at Sointula at Artshed on Malcolm Island, B.C. in February 2026 where they will be creating a new collaborative work inspired by the region’s archipelago, a remote wilderness area with numerous small islands, islets, and inlets known for its natural beauty and marine wildlife.
